Spa
The Sanctuary at City Club day spa comprises four treatment rooms. All treatments can be customised to suit a variety of individual areas of concern, and specialist treatments are available for men, and pregnant and breastfeeding women. Therapies include body treatments, massage, and facials. Patrons of Sanctuary at City Club are invited, prior to their treatment, to make use of the City Club’s wet areas, including the indoor heated pool, sauna, spa tub, and steam room. Sanctuary treatments include Western and Aboriginal-inspired therapies. The latter treatments make use of a range of Australian-made products produced according to traditional Aboriginal healing principles and plant wisdom.

Balance – signature treatment (1 hour, 15 minutes): AU$120
Aiming to eliminate toxins, the treatment includes a full body polish using an aromatherapy salt glow; a seaweed body wrap to reduce fluid retention and stimulate circulation; and a seaweed facial to eliminate toxins and prevent wrinkles.

Includes a one-hour facial, back exfoliation using an aromatherapy salt glow, and tension relief massage. Customised to suit individual needs.

An Aboriginal treatment based on the power of touch. Pressure-point therapy and rhythmic spiraling movements are used to re-align the body’s energy fields and relieve emotional and physical tension. Recommended as an energy boost.

After exfoliation, a natural black moor mud wrap is applied to the body, whilst a foot and scalp massage provides a balancing effect. A hydrating moisturiser concludes the treatment. Recommended for jetlag or muscular tension, as well as skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis.

Aiming for refined, and ultimately dimple-free skin, the treatment begins with a gentle dry body brushing. To eliminate toxins, a potent concentrate is spread onto the skin, and to improve circulation a full-body green coffee wrap is applied.

A Moroccan rassoulcocoon treatment comprising exfoliation, facial mask, and moisturising treatment to rejuvenate the skin and replenish minerals. Accompanied by a head and scalp massage. Recommended for the relief of general fatigue.

Sanctuary treatments use products from noted European spa specialist, Pevonia Botanica, or the local spa range, Li’Tya, for Aboriginal-inspired therapies. Li’Tya is an exclusive range of Australian-made products based on traditional Aboriginal healing principles and plant wisdom. The range contains pure, organic Australian native plant extracts and premium grade botanicals. The products are free from artificial colours and fragrances, and are recommended for those with sensitive skin.
Rooms
Floor-to-ceiling windows and Art Deco style are standard in the 548 Grand Hyatt guestrooms. There are also cable TVs, three dual-line telephones, dedicated lines for high-speed Internet access, large work desks, in-room facsimiles upon request (surcharge applies), and voice mail facilities. Video checkouts may be done via the TV. Further amenities are complimentary newspapers, bathrobes, and in-room safes. The marble ensuite bathrooms have separate bathtubs and showers. Renovation Notice
Grand Hyatt Melbourne is currently under renovation. During the initial demolition and construction phase, the hotel’s Collins Street entrance will be closed and all hotel guests and visitors will enter and depart the hotel through the Russell Street entrance and porch. In the second phase, the Russell Street entrance will be rebuilt and guests will arrive and leave through the renovated Collins Street entrance.
The hotel’s breakfast buffet will be relocated to one of the recently renovated function rooms on level eight. As an alternative, the Grand Club lounge will be made available for all hotel guests who wish to entertain clients or guests for lunch and dinner. During the renovation, the Grand Club lounge will open at 8 pm daily.
Work will be undertaken Monday through Saturday from 7:30 am to 6 pm. The renovation is scheduled to complete mid 2008.
Recreation
The Hyatt City Club and Fitness Centre comprises both fitness and health spa facilities. It includes a 15-metre indoor heated pool, fitness centre, aerobic studio, spinning classes, tennis court and half courts, steam room, sauna, solariums, massage and physiotherapy treatments, spa tub, and nutritionist. Guests wishing to visit the City Club fitness centre will pay a fee of AU$10 for the use of equipment and attending classes. Use of the pool, spa tub, steam rooms, and sauna is complimentary for hotel guests. The Sanctuary at City Club health spa offers a range of therapies including massage, body treatments, and facials. The Grand Hyatt is 0.5 km from the Treasury Gardens, which have walking and jogging tracks. Across Landsdowne Street from the Gardens are the even more extensive Fitzroy Gardens, where guests will find further walking and jogging tracks.

Driving directions from Melbourne International Airport (MEL): Exit the airport and take the Tullamarine Freeway, following sign-posted directions to the city. After approximately 12 km take the Bulla Road exit. After approximately 1.5 km, Bulla Road becomes Mount Alexander Road, which becomes Flemington Road. Continue to the end of this road where there is a roundabout. Turn right here into Elizabeth Street. Travel down Elizabeth Street to the Queen Victoria Market and turn left into Victoria Parade. Drive along Victoria Parade for just over 0.5 km. Turn right into Russell Street and travel approximately 1 km through 6 sets of traffic lights (last set is at the intersection of Collins Street). The Grand Hyatt’s driveway is then almost immediately on the left.
