Recreation

Kapalua Adventures offers guests a wide range of adventure tours (surcharges apply). Kapalua Adventure Center, located in the central area of the resort below the Kapalua Golf Academy, includes an outfitters shop with clothing and gear for adventure enthusiasts, a café with healthy fare and a premium selection of beer and wine, a coffee bar with specialty Hawaiian coffees, a multi-media entertainment and information center, and trained adventure concierges.

Located in the mountainous area above the resort is the Mountain Outpost, featuring one of the largest zipline systems in North America with eight dual-track ziplines. In addition, two suspension bridges, a ropes challenge course, and a four-station climbing tower are available. Guests are transported to the Outpost by biodiesel-fueled vehicles via existing pineapple roads. Access to the area is restricted to official Kapalua Adventures’ vehicles to ensure safety while minimizing environmental impact.

On site, a large sundeck surrounds a 10,000-square-foot, three-tiered outdoor pool with small waterfalls and two spa tubs. The Wahiua Spa houses an ocean-view fitness center with TV-equipped cardio machines, strength-training equipment, steam room, sauna, and classes such as Pilates and yoga.

The resort fronts the golden sands of D.T. Fleming Beach, which "Dr. Beach" named America's Best Beach for 2006. The Pacific waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling in summer, and surfing during winter swells. Two other sandy beaches, enclosed by volcanic rocks and cliffs, are within walking distance. Water-sports equipment can be rented at the resort.

A six-court tennis complex includes a basketball court and yoga studio.

The oceanfront Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua is 10 miles from historic Lahaina. The resort has completed a $180 million transformation project in January 2008, featuring new guestrooms, one- and two-bedroom residential suites, and redesigned restaurants.

The Banyan Tree - The resort's signature seafood restaurant, winner of numerous awards. Decor reflects Maui's undersea life, with fanciful blown-glass light fixtures inspired by sea urchins and vibrant corals. Seasonal menu focusing on fresh local ingredients. Sample menu items include Steamed Opakapaka, Roasted Butterfish with Kona Crab Gratin, and, for dessert, Warm Kapalua Pineapple Cobbler.

Kai - Sushi, sashimi, Japanese appetizers, sake. Sleek Asian-inspired decor with views of the pool, Pacific Ocean, and Moloka'i. Dinner nightly.

The Terrace - Indoor dining under high ceilings with views of pools and gardens. Covered outdoor dining, also. Architectural details reminiscent of Maui's historic plantations. Buffet breakfast. Regional Pacific cuisine for lunch and dinner.

The Beach House - Beachfront dining under a natural canopy of coconut palms. Salads and sandwiches for lunch, tropical cocktails and other drinks throughout the day. Open late morning until late afternoon.

The Pool Bar & Café - Tropical drinks, smoothies, appetizers, sandwiches and salads at the poolside bar or delivered to the guest's chaise lounge. Complimentary fresh Maui pineapple twice daily.

The Lobby Lounge - Constructed of black lava stone and lighted amber glass. Living-room-style seating and a verandah for sunset viewing year-round, and whale-watching in winter. Cocktails and a light menu of pupus from midday until late night, with live Hawaiian music each evening.
