Hotel Information: The hotel is accessed via a sweeping driveway flanked by palm trees and low fountains. The octagonal lobby is tiled throughout in tiny tiles, with a central fountain and crystal chandelier. Rooms

The 286 rooms and 28 suites are set over four floors and accessed via arched corridors decorated with ornate tilework. All rooms have small seating areas with sofas, desks, wireless Internet (surcharge) and phones on a lower level, with blue and white tiled floors and access to balconies or terraces with canvas chairs and tiled wrought iron tables. Recreation

Chauffeur-driven golf buggies in British Racing Green with cream leather interiors take guests to the Golf Club. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr, this 18-hole, 72-par course features five lakes, a putting area and driving range. The shop sells branded sportswear and golfing accessories. The Club Equestre offers riding lessons and treks around the Palameraie area for riders of all abilities. The spa houses an exercise room, where aerobics classes take place, and a squash court (lessons are on offer; racquets can be hired). Baccarat Bar - Opulent bar and terrace with dark walls, crocodile and zebra-upholstered armchairs and bar stools and Tiffany-style stained glass ceiling. Serves cocktails and an extensive list of vintage Champagnes until late every evening. The terrace is set around an arrangement of formal pools and fountains, with seating under gazebos.

Le Grand Bleu - Pool restaurant set in the centre of the hotel’s five pool areas. Serves a buffet lunch daily, including themed meals and hand-rolled sushi once a week. Also serves drinks and snacks to sunbathers around the pool.

Matignon - French a la carte restaurant with seating for 65 diners. The menu features haute cuisine dishes, including Ris d’Agneau avec Citruc Confit, Sauge et Artichauts. The dining room is decorated is warm yellow and scarlet, with heavy drapes and Louis XIV-style chairs upholstered in bold floral fabrics. Live piano music is on offer from time to time. Open for dinner only.

Le Sablier - Decorated with floral wallpaper and matching fabric in shades of creamy yellow, green and purple, with shabby-chic chairs and a sky-effect ceiling, this dining room hosts breakfast in the cool winter months and offer nightly international buffet dinners. The adjacent terrace contains tables for outside dining.

Signor Santi - Italian restaurant with exposed brick walls and low vaulted ceiling. Serves dinner only for up to 100 diners, with room for a further 100 on the terrace. Decor is in earthy shades of terracotta and ochre. Menu features dishes including Saffron Risotto with Marrow and Parmesan, Tiramisu and home-made ice creams.

Nargis - Traditional Moroccan restaurant, serving tagines and couscous. The interior is dark and atmospheric, with low seating, decor in rich shades of plum and scarlet, and nightly entertainment in the shape of folk bands and belly dancers. Adjacent to the dining room is a large outdoor tent, where guests dine by candlelight.

Legende & 19th Hole Bar - Set away from the main hotel in the clubhouse, this relaxed dining room overlooks the golf course and provides drinks and snacks for tired golfers. Deep leather armchairs, a terrace shaded by large canvas parasols and a widescreen TV showing sports characterise this venue.
