Barceló Playa Montelimar is located on 210 hectares (519 acres) fronting a private beach on the west coast of Nicaragua. The property includes three pools, a spa tub, fitness equipment, a discotheque, a zoo, a bingo hall, and a casino (open 24 hours Friday–Sunday). Children 3–11 years have use of a playground, their own pool, and daily entertainment programs. The resort also has gift and jewelry shops, a pharmacy, four restaurants, and a beachfront bar. The business center provides secretarial services as well as a fax machine and Internet access, and 12 meeting rooms are available for conventions or other gatherings.

An on-site travel agency arranges outside tours and excursions (surcharges). Airport transportation can be arranged for a fee. Self-parking is complimentary. The Montelimar also has its own runway (2,000 x 50 meters; 2,187 x 55 yards) suitable for use by small private aircraft.
