Hotel Information: In keeping with the quiet residential location, the lobby of the Barceló Albatros, rebuilt in 2001, is smart but understated, giving no clue of the spectacular bay views to the rear. Holidaymakers are a mix of couples and young families attracted by the peaceful atmosphere.
Amenity highlights: The landscaped pool area, secluded from its neighbours by tall trees, juts out into the Bay of Palma, and offers direct access to the sea. On the upper terraces guests can relax with a drink and enjoy the panoramic views. Spa and gym facilities were completed in 2006, and also take advantage of the hotel’s location with windows overlooking the bay.
Insider tip: Although mass tourism arrived in the Bay of Palma decades ago, it still retains a certain cachet and attracts eminent personalities, including the King and Queen of Spain. Their summer residence, Marivent Palace, is just three kilometres away, very close to the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró. Almost opposite the palace, Sabor Real is a very pleasant spot to enjoy a drink and tapas.

The eight-storey Barceló Albatros has 119 air-conditioned guestrooms decorated in a modern style with bright pastel colours, dark wood headboards, and floral prints on the walls. Recreation
In summer the pool area offers sunbathing, swimming, a separate children’s pool, a hot tub, and table tennis. There is also a gym, sauna, and a small indoor pool that can be used all year.
A small private cove with two straw parasols and grey sand and shingle is accessible by steps from the pool area. The cove is shaded, so limited in terms of sunbathing, but steps and handrails provide access for swimming in the sea. Various water sports are available on site.
Large sandy beaches and wider range of water sports are available around the Bay of Palma. Year-round golf can be played at 15 courses around the island, five of which lie within a 15-minute car journey of the hotel.
