Insider tip: Built in the early seventies as a pioneering spa facility the hotel has attracted many famous visitors over the years. Franco himself used to stay here when his portraits lined the walls and the likes of Grace Kelly and Sean Connery have graced the corridors. These days the hotel is regularly visited by the Princesses of Arabia, who liked the specialised hydrotherapy tub so much the director of the hotel flew over to Arabia to oversee the construction of one there.
Rooms
This nine-floor hotel features 192 air-conditioned guestrooms and suites, most of which offer spectacular views over Marbella, the golf course and the Mediterranean Sea. Stone tiled balconies extend from guestrooms decorated in pastel shades with classically-styled furniture. Blue and white tiled bathrooms have shower and tub combinations, hair dryers and complimentary toiletries. The hotel’s hydrotherapy circuit, complimentary to all guests, has a circuit of six different swimming pools, including an indoor giant club shaped spa tub overlooking the hotel’s Japanese style garden, an indoor heated pool with relaxation area, an outdoor lap pool, a large free-form lake pool with waterfalls and a central palm tree island and in-pool hydro massage bench, heated pool with foot massage jets and a large outdoor spa tub with neck massage jets and sub-aquatic beds. Waiters and pool attendants serve cool drinks and lay out towels on padded lounge beds by the poolside.
The hotel offers special green fees at 18 of the most exclusive clubs on the Costa del Sol. The Rio Real golf course is just 500 metres from the hotel; a complimentary shuttle is available.
