Hotel Information: Facing the sea and with its own beach club, the Hotel Guadalmina Spa and Golf Resort is set amidst palm trees between two 18-hole golf courses. The restful ambience attracts mainly European leisure travellers and golfers. The lobby is decorated in warm terracotta and features carved Spanish furnishings, a wrought-iron chandelier, and potted palms. A balconied atrium extends through the upper floors.
Amenity highlights: Opened in 2006, the spa and wellness centre offers a range of treatments and therapies. A thermal circuit includes a hydrotherapy pool, heated to 36ºC, with various air jets to increase circulation and relax muscles, a spa tub, Turkish steam room, Finnish sauna, hot stone foot massage, ice and massage showers, and a relaxation area where fresh juices and herbal teas are served. Four restaurants/bars offer Mediterranean dishes, snacks and drinks.
Insider tip: The Costa Marbella centre, six kilometres away near Puerto Banús, has three floors of clothes, shoes, accessories and cosmetics, as well as a large supermarket for traditional Spanish goods including cured Serrano ham, olives and sherry. For designer shopping, Puerto Banús and Marbella offer many high-end boutiques.

The Hotel Guadalmina Spa and Golf Resort features 178 air-conditioned guestrooms housed in two, four-storey buildings. Some rooms feature light decor and modern design, while others have a more traditional Mediterranean ambience with wrought iron four poster beds, ceiling fans, cherry wood furnishings and marble floors. Recreation
The hotel is surrounded by one nine-hole and two 18-hole golf courses owned by the Guadalmina Golf Club. Hotel guests have privileged access and can tee-off at the 11th hole of the Guadalmina South Course, which is accessible directly from the hotel grounds and runs right along the sea shore. There are 20 start times available at both the North Course and the South Course. The North Course is renowned for its difficulty and the South has more water hazards. Aqua Restaurant - Refurbished in 2006 this contemporary restaurant has floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides offering views over the golf course and sea beyond. Beige marble floors, ornamental trees, calico and black-striped chairs and white linen-topped tables. Serves hot and cold breakfast buffet each morning and an à la carte menu at lunch and dinner. Sample dishes include Red Tuna Carpaccio with Rocket, Parmesan, and Grapefruit and Pistachio Vinaigrette, Lamb Stew with Pumpkin Puree, and Sea Bass with Glazed Onions. Guests can also dine on the open air terrace.
Balcón del Mar - Dining room refurbished in April 2006 offering views over the south Guadalmina golf course. Glass doors on three sides are opened in fine weather. Extends to an outdoor terrace. Also serves an extensive buffet lunch on Sundays including fresh fish, seafood, meat, cold dishes, salads and various desserts.
Aqua Bar - Light, contemporary bar serving drinks, cocktails and snacks throughout the day. Sandwiches and salads feature on the menu. Leads to a gallery and exhibition space displaying modern Spanish artworks.
Beach Club - Past the pool, the wood decked beach club is set directly on the beach and serves typically Mediterranean cuisine by the sea. Open for lunch and dinner during the summer.
