Hotel Information: Located just off Oxford Street, the hotel is in Grosvenor Square, one of a handful of leafy London squares in central--but quiet--locations, famed for their grand Georgian and Victorian architecture and set around peaceful gardens. The hotel welcomes a large contingent of business travelers, as well as many visitors from the U.S. and Middle East. The U.S. Embassy is 50 meters (164 ft) from the hotel, and officers at U.S. Naval headquarters for the UK (opposite) make frequent use of the hotel.
Amenity highlights: The hotel is located 400 m (450 yards) from Hyde Park, one of the largest green spaces in central London, and is close to Oxford and Bond Street shopping. Meeting rooms in the hotel accommodate 6-18 people. The largest and most impressive, the Grosvenor Suite, has dark-wood paneling and is decorated with antique glasses in cabinets. The ballroom, which holds up to 700, has marble floors, ornate plasterwork, and chandeliers.
Insider tip:Tucked away (500 meters; 0.25 mile) from the hotel is the picturesque Shepherd Market. Narrow cobbled streets are lined with galleries, boutiques, and restaurants, where locals dine alfresco, surrounded by hanging baskets overflowing with flowers. The area is set on the site of the original May Fair, and was notorious in the 19th century as the haunt of women of easy virtue. Nowadays, the diminutive Georgian buildings are a refreshing change from the relentless grandeur of the surrounding Mayfair streets.

Dining
Brian Turner Mayfair - Set off the lobby, this fine-dining restaurant is the London home of TV chef and stout Yorkshireman Brian Turner, known for modern British cooking with an emphasis on local produce. Dishes can include Fried Cornish Squid with Spiced Tomato Compote and Sea Salt and Seaweed Cracker, and Roast Lincolnshire Duckling with Pear and Apricot Stuffing. The airy room has views over Grosvenor Square. Designed by Noel Pierce, the dining room’s signature is the twinkling textured glass used in panels on the doors and walls. Open for lunch and dinner. A private dining room is also available.
Turner Bar - Adjacent to the Brian Turner Mayfair restaurant, the entrance to the small bar is flanked by bottles of wine stored behind glass. Low armchairs and banquettes are covered in leather and the bar is backlit with golden light. One wall is lined with panels of twinkling textured glass and large banana plants, giving the room a contemporary oriental feel.
Breakfast Room - Breakfast is served daily in the Brian Turner Restaurant dining room. Guests can choose buffet, Continental, Japanese, or English fry-up breakfast.
Pine Bar - Styled to resemble a London pub. Walls are paneled in pine and the carpet is patterned; chairs and banquettes are covered in fawn leather. The bar has live piano music in the evenings and is frequented by locals. Drinks and snacks (including sandwiches, pizzas, and salads) are served until the small hours.
Shogun - A fixture at the hotel since the 1980s, this Japanese restaurant is set in a small, subterranean, stone-lined room. Low lighting and mannequins dressed as Japanese warriors set the atmosphere. Dishes include sushi, sashimi, and hot Japanese main courses. Serves lunch and dinner. Closed Mondays.
