Special Check-in Instructions

The hotel offers a complimentary check-in service at a “Welcome Counter” located at the Kyoto Station Hachijyo-Guchi (Hachijyo exit). International travelers arriving by Shinkansen (Bullet Train), airport bus from Kansai International Airport, or Itami Airport can chose to utilize this service which is available until 2 PM daily. Guest luggage is delivered directly to the hotel after 4:30 PM. The service includes temporary luggage storage at Kyoto Station. Upon departure, guests should book luggage delivery to the “Welcome Counter” before 11 AM. Luggage will be delivered 2 PM-6 PM.

Rooms

The 322 renovated guestrooms offer new carpets, new wall coverings, and new beds. The Grand Prince Hotel Kyoto guestrooms have bathrooms fitted with electric toilets, combination shower/tubs, and Japanese yukatas in place of standard bathrobes. Complimentary toiletries are provided. All guestrooms also have Japanese tea making facilities and minibars with limited beverage selections. Cable/satellite TVs, pay movies, and high-speed Internet (surcharge) are provided. Amenities available on request include CD players, bathroom scales, trouser press service, and infant beds (cribs). Windows may be partially opened for ventilation.

Recreation

The Konami Sports Club allows a discounted visitor fee of JPY3,670 (US$30) per day for guests only. The sports club is accessible via the subway, exiting at the Kitaoji station. Also 2 km (1 mile) from the hotel is the Sports Center, open to nonmembers, which offers tennis courts, bowling, golf practice center, and horseback riding.

Property Amenities

The oval-shaped hotel with a Japanese garden centerpiece completed a full renovation in 2007. The hotel has 322 guestrooms, and eight floors of guest amenities, accessible by elevators. Services include currency exchange, gift shop/newsstand, concierge desk, dry cleaning, and tour desk. The hotel’s ‘welcome counter’ at Kyoto Station is a complimentary service, enabling check-in at the station, with baggage delivered to hotel, and temporary luggage storage at Kyoto Station, on check-outl. Parking (complimentary) is available near the hotel, in surrounding streets. On the second floor, grooming and health amenities include a massage treatment room, and spa services including facials, body treatments, and massages. Kansai International Airport (KIX): Approximate travel time is 95 minutes and distance is 110 km (68 miles).

Getting there: From the airport the best options are by taxi to the hotel, or by train or bus to Kyoto station, and transfer to the subway train line to the hotel. Rental cars are not recommended for travelers unfamiliar with this area.

Dining

Beaux Sejours - The semi-formal French-influenced restaurant overlooks the hotel gardens from the first floor. With seating for French 40 seats, Teppanyaki 14 seats, tables are set with linen napery, and the menu includes lunch and set courses for dinner.

Japanese Restaurant Takaragake - Serving authentic Japanese cuisine, this restaurant has traditional timber and rice paper décor. Menu items include sushi and tempura for lunch and dinner. A course menu is also available. The 64-seat restaurant is on the first floor.

Toh-En - With an expanse of windows along the main wall, the restaurant is light-filled. Décor is semi-formal with linen napery. The menu offers Chinese cuisine for lunch and dinner. Located on the first floor, the restaurant has seating for 74 guests.

Japanese Teahouse - Set in landscaped gardens, the teahouse offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Two dining rooms are available, and the menu is traditional Kaiseki cuisine, with set courses. Kaiseki is based on original Zen vegetarian dining and includes bowls of rice and miso soup. The modern menu offers fish and meat dishes, and sake. Reservations are required.

Ascot Bar - The first floor bar is open from early evening for drinks and light snacks, with seating for 38 guests.

Pond Cafe - Serving cakes, coffee, tea, breakfast buffet, and light meals from morning until late, the 90-seat lounge offers a view of the Japanese garden.
