Amenity highlights: No sunrise, sunset, or whale passes unnoticed from this tip of Poipu Point overlooking the vast Pacific Ocean. At the edge of the bluff behind low, neat hedges, wooden benches provide front-row seating for the oceanic spectacle unfolding below—a blue-and-white musical of bass booms, rolling surf, and dancing spray.
Insider tip: Due to the rocky coast, there is no access to the beach. However, a mile west is famed Poipu Beach, considered one of America's best beaches. S-shaped, the beach's lower loop is protected by a man-made reef, so water is calm. The upper loop offers surfing/boogie boarding. In between, there's great snorkeling among lava rocks around a small sand islet. To the east is Shipwreck Beach for surfing and beach walking.
Special Check-in Instructions
Office hours are between 8 AM and 5 PM daily. A posted sign outside the office door will lead those guests arriving outside of hours to unit 4101, which is located behind the office building. There is a bulletin board outside unit 4101 where guests will find their room keys in an envelope with their name on it.

Castle Makahuena, a Condominium Resort at Poipu has very spacious island-style condominium units with large windows, casual furnishings, and big patios or balconies. The 79 units are housed in two- and three-story, plantation-style buildings, with access to upper floors by outside stairs, with no elevators provided. Units are cooled by ceiling fans. Most have all-tile floors, with some providing area rugs.
