Hotel Information: Nestled in the crook of an elbow formed by the Gulf of Mexico on one side and the channel connecting the Gulf and the Atlantic on the other, this casual, family-friendly resort includes playground equipment and features grounds lushly planted with tropical gardens, including 32 species of fruit and nut trees such as Barbados cherry and strawberry guava.
Amenity highlights: A wood walkway over a pond leads into a central garden open to the Gulf. The garden contains a large heated, free-form pool with a toddler-friendly sloping beach entry. An expansive sand area extending from the pool to the Gulf is furnished with thickly padded lounge chairs, picnic tables, and barbecue grills. The Hyatt's water-activities center rents Jet Skis, kayaks, speedboats, pontoon boats, and snorkel and fishing gear and conducts snorkeling, fishing, scuba diving, dolphin-watching excursions, and sunset-cruise excursions.
Insider tip: Twice weekly, the property offers pottery painting classes for a fee. A concession stand serving soft drinks, wine, and beer is on site by the activities center.
Rooms
This resort has 74 condominium units in six tan-and-white buildings. The three-story buildings form a U-shape around a central garden open to the Gulf of Mexico. Balconies provide garden views and glimpses of the Gulf. Decor includes hues of cerulean blue and sand and wicker furniture.
The 1,100-square-foot units offer jetted tubs, full kitchens, and private screened balconies. Amenities include three TVs with premium cable channels, VCRs, DVD players, CD players, and washer/dryers. Wireless Internet access is available (surcharge).
