Insider tip: On the Punda side of downtown Willemstad is Plasa Bieu, an open-air structure housing six food stands serving country-style lunches to throngs of locals. Insiders favor the stand run by Zus, who appears on many Curaçao travel posters and often serves as an international ambassador for the island's cuisine. Willemstad is 40 km (25 mi) from the resort.

Recreation

Sunset Waters Beach Resort is arrayed along a low bluff above the Caribbean Sea. Coral stones line part of the beach, with a walled nude-sunbathing compound in that section. Another section features a crescent beach and calm-water swimming cove protected by stone breakwaters. The beach is furnished with thatched shades and lounges with floats/cushions.

Snorkeling reefs lie just outside the cove. As part of the All-Inclusive plan, once a week guests are transported to a point near the resort and snorkel on their way back. The resort supplies snorkeling gear, kayaks, and pedal boats.

An on-site dive center offers scuba instruction/certification; reef, wall, and night dives; and snorkeling excursions. An independently operated deep-sea-fishing boat moors in adjacent Santa Martha Bay.

At the back of the resort, a 14.75-m (48-ft) irregularly shaped pool includes a separate children's section and a swimup bar. Land sports include an 18-hole miniature-golf course, a bocce court, and a lighted tennis court.
