Heraklion Airport (HER): Approximate driving time to Knossos Beach Hotel & Bungalows is 15 minutes and distance is 10 kilometres (6 miles).
Getting there: The hotel can organise transfers from the airport (surcharge). Alternatively taxis are available but customers should confirm prices before travelling.
Driving directions: Coming from the airport, take the road straight ahead and left onto the national road E75, following the sign for Aghios Nikolaos. Stay on the E75 for three kilometres until reaching an EKO petrol station. About 200 metres past the petrol station, take a right at a road sign indicating Old National Road (2), the second E75 underpass. Leave the E75, and head onto a narrow winding road that goes directly to Kokkini Hani. Knossos Beach Hotel and Bungalows is located on the left, across the seafront.
Getting around: The best way to explore Crete is by car. Buses are cheap, relatively frequent and go to most places around the island. The Cretan bus company KTEL has stations in all the larger cities as well as connections to more remote areas. Many villages are also accessible by small ferries and boat taxis. There are taxi stands throughout Heraklion city centre; taxis are reasonably priced but travellers should make sure the meter is switched on.
