Hotel Information: Guests step in through the glass entrance doors and immediately see the beach through the opposite wall of glass. The lobby is followed by a verandah with slatted roof, a strip of lawn, and then the warm waters of the Caribbean. Only a few dozen steps separate the entrance from the 183 meters (200 yards) of white-sand beach.

Amenity highlights: The smaller size of this resort means that everything is close at hand, a welcome advantage for families with younger children. Bowls of red and green apples welcome guests into the lobby, which is accented with leather wall hangings and displays of traditional ceramic urns and Mexican paintings. Massage can be arranged on raised wood decks under beach palapas. A fitness center offers stationary bicycles, stair machines, and free weights.

Guests are guaranteed water views because all 276 air-conditioned guestrooms at Oasis Viva Beach look out over the Caribbean Sea. Some rooms provide furnished balconies. Most rooms come with two double beds but king beds also may be available.

Brightly painted walls showcase wood headboards with rattan insets; other furnishings include a round table and two chairs. Floors are tile and almost all rooms have a bathtub/shower combination; a few have shower only. In-room safes are provided (surcharge).

To protect guests from passing boats, the hotel allows sea swimming only in a defined, shallow area in front of the resort where the water is calm. Nonmotorized sea sports include kayaking and sailing. The pool is another focus of activity, with staff members running a daily program that includes water aerobics, pool volleyball, and games.
