What to expect: Surrounded by the lovely Sierra National Forest, this mountain resort is laden with amenities and activities. The lobby/great-room at Tenaya Lodge is decorated with local artifacts, warm-toned fabrics, large windows to enjoy the view, and an inviting fireplace. In addition to on-site activities, the splendors of Yosemite National Park beckon those who want to explore. The lodge organizes tours and activities.
Amenity highlights: This classic mountain lodge includes two pools, indoor and outdoor spa tubs, a complimentary health club with saunas and steam rooms, and an ice-skating rink (surcharge). A day spa is on site, a kids’ club is available for ages 5–12, and personalized infant and childcare is available in guestrooms (surcharges for all).
Sierra Alpine cuisine is showcased in a spacious dining room with large limestone fireplace and seasonal outdoor terrace.
Insider tip: The lodge is named for legendary Chief Tenaya of the Southern Sierra Miwok or “Ahwahneechee" people who, as lore goes, won a battle with a grizzly bear in Yosemite Valley and returned to his village a hero.
