Hotel Information: Built in 1992, the Corvinus' façade is hung with an awning of curved steel supported by square marble columns. Inside, the sweeping white lobby is highlighted with gleaming brass and dotted with black leather armchairs. Always busy with groups, business travelers, and the occasional celebrity, the lobby takes on a calmer air in the evenings, when a pianist and violinist soothe the crowd.
Amenity highlights: The Asian-inspired Kempinski Spa features an indoor pool, fitness center, traditional Finnish sauna, steam bath, solarium, therapeutic bath and massage suite, ice well, and heated Kneipp benches. Aromatherapy combines with integrated audio and lighting systems to provide a total sensory experience.
Insider tip: Most visitors to Budapest rave about the views from Castle Hill in Buda. But guests who only have a little time to spare should take advantage of the view from Budapest's biggest church, St Stephen's Basilica. Just 500 meters from the hotel, the church's dome is surrounded by a viewing platform – 96 meters above the ground. Also of interest is the mummified hand of St Stephen, kept in a chapel behind the altar.
Rooms
This hotel has 366 guestrooms, all of which are decorated in warm beige with black or duck-egg blue with silver. Bedheads are pale wood inset with lacquer; behind them, a feature wall is padded in either gold or turquoise, matching the drapes. Bedspreads are black and beige diamonds or silver with pale blue scrolls. Armchairs and sofas are either beige with roll arms, or striped velvet in shades of blue. Pale wood desks have wireless Internet access (surcharge) and two desk chairs. Marble bathrooms are inset with mother of pearl mosaic chips in the floor and walls. Separate showers have their own glass doors, with another handheld shower over the bath. Bathrooms include bathrobes, slippers, phones, scales, and heated flooring. Digital TVs have Internet access, wireless keyboards, pay movies, and pay music.
