Hotel Information: Overlooking the Danube in the hilly, winding streets of Buda, the art'otel's quiet lobby is paved with gray slate and dominated by an eight-foot-high water feature of inverted cups. The carpet is spotted with dominoes and couples of all ages lounge on pea-green velvet couches. Temporary exhibits of contemporary art hang between permanent works by the hotel's designer, Donald Sultan.

Insider tip: Most visitors to Budapest rave about the views from Castle Hill in Buda. But guests who only have a little time to spare, should take advantage of the view from Budapest's biggest church, St Stephen's Basilica. The church's dome is surrounded by a viewing platform – 96 meters in the air. Also of interest is the mummified hand of St Stephen, kept in a chapel behind the altar.
Rooms
This hotel has 164 guestrooms, all of which feature the art and design of minimalist artist Donald Sultan. Some rooms have views of the Danube and Houses of Parliament, or of the Castle.
Bright red carpet is decorated with a needle and thread motif, taken from one of Sultan's artworks. Beds have crisp white bedding and red bedspreads. Low, square gray armchairs match drapes and fabric detailing on pale wood headboards.
Some rooms have matching sofabeds and glass-topped coffee tables with curved black legs. Desks have high-speed Internet access (fee). Walls are hung with Sultan prints. Black marble bathrooms have stainless steel sinks, adjustable-height showers over bathtubs, and flower sculptures.

chelsea - Serving lunch and dinner from an international menu with Asian influences and Hungarian specialties, chelsea's walls are hung with bright prints of Sultan buttons. Guests sit in yellow and black or rust and black armchairs at tables laid with card-motif crockery. In the glass-roofed courtyard section, black wicker furniture sits on a black and white tiled floor.
drawing room - Breakfast buffet and functions are served in the drawing room, where wall-length black leather banquettes sit beneath photos of smoke rings. Under a low gothic ceiling, other guests sit in butter yellow leather armchairs.
domino cafe - Sandwiches, light snacks and a host of cocktails are served from the bar in this lobby café. Burnt orange leather armchairs and black leather banquettes sit at tables decorated with a single flower.
