Hotel Information: Located just two blocks from Breckenridge's busy Main Street, the lodge still provides privacy and quiet thanks to the woody slopes surrounding it. Mountain Thunder Lodge appeals to well-heeled travelers who want ski-in convenience, modern amenities, and easy access to the town and mountain, but not the hustle and bustle that accompany crowds.
Amenity highlights: Oriental rugs warm the natural stone floor of the lodge's lobby, a large, wood-trimmed room with rustic-chic tables, plaid chairs, and a conversation area centered around a stone fireplace. Guests can work out in several exercise rooms or unwind in one of several spa tubs. The outdoor pool is next to the children's playground. Other perks include 24-hour check-in, underground parking, and shuttle service to the slopes and around town.
Insider tip: Breckenridge dinner sleigh rides are offered twice nightly from November through April, depending on snow conditions. The evening includes a 30- to 40-minute horse drawn sleigh ride, fireside drinks, a western buffet, and live music. Fees apply, though children under four are free. For reservations or more information, contact the lodge’s concierge.
