Spa
With six treatment rooms either on the waterfront or set four-metres (12-feet) high in the trees, the Marù Spa offers guests a setting unique to the area. Constructed using bamboo, hardwood, and stone materials, the spa reflects the spirit of French Polynesia.
Translated from Polynesian, marù means gentle, slow, soft of sound and touch. This concept inspires the treatment menu and ambience of the spa. Treatments utilise the region’s natural resources and include ingredients such as monoi oil and noni fruit.
Sacred Tamanu (110 minutes): Used for centuries by locals, tamanu is known for its capacity to heal and promote the formation of new skin tissue and is especially soothing for the skin after sun exposure. To start, guests are cocooned in a moisture- and vitamin-rich tamanu balm, followed by a hydrating face mask. As this nourishing mask penetrates the skin, the scalp is massaged with warm monoi oil. A relaxing and gentle body massage with coconut and banana monoi oil concludes this treatment.
Tropical Rain Massage (25 minutes): This treatment combines lomi-lomi with thalasso therapy as guests are immersed in warm water while the therapist massages the body using hands and forearms as six shower jets relax and rejuvenate the body. Taurumi Ofa’I – Warm Stone Massage (50 minutes): This deeply relaxing treatment, inspired by local cultures, utilises elements of nature in combination with the healing art of touch. Guests are warmed and massaged with smooth stones to relieve muscle tension. Te Mana – Life Energy with Noni (50 minutes): Used for therapeutic purposes by traditional Polynesian healers, noni is known as an energising plant that may boost the immune system and naturally strengthen the whole body. This massage is ideal for fatigue, jetlag, or lack of energy. Taurumi Maohi – Traditional Polynesian Massage (25, 50, or 80 minutes): This traditional massage is performed with long and deep soothing strokes, using thumbs, hands, and forearms to relieve stress and strain from the body. This treatment leaves guests with a feeling of well-being and renewed energy through the application of selected monoi oils.
