Spa philosophy

Focused on physical as well as spiritual well-being, Banyan Tree Spa’s holistic approach to balance between the two includes treatment “retreats” that combine comforting simplicity and exotic sensuality. Based on the five Chinese elements, aromatic oils, herbs, and spices are used in tandem with centuries-old techniques to promote beauty and reawaken the body.

Royal Banyon (3 hours)
This signature therapy takes a holistic approach to balance and rejuvenates the mind, body, and soul. A lemongrass and cucumber balm begins this treatment for revitalisation of the body and skin cells. An oil-free royal Thai acupressure follows to stimulate circulation and helps prepare the body for the signature Banyan Massage—a combination of East-meets-West techniques using an herbal pouch dipped in warm sesame oil. The indulgence is completed with a ginseng bath to nourish and refresh the skin.

Yin Yang: Water—Relaxation (3 hours)
One of five treatments inspired by the five Chinese elements. Calming and relaxing, the “Island Dew Massage” uses aromatic essential oils to restore energy balance. “Apple and Green Tea Polisher” with its natural fruit enzymes and sweet honey gently exfoliates the skin. The body is then coated with “Rice Pearl Conditioner,” enriched with glutinous rice and ginseng for deep skin nourishment. Chinese Quince is added to a safflower bath to promote blood circulation and soothe away body aches and pains. Feng: Gold (120 minutes)
Another treatment—body scrubs and massage—in a series of five based on the Chinese elements. A time of purification and conservation of energy for the impending winter, “Gold” first uses a black sesame scrub to exfoliate. With its unique warming qualities, the black sesame scrub induces weight loss and reduces water retention. The Swedish massage that follows stimulates circulation to purify the body by eliminating toxins. Shui: Earth (120 minutes)
The third series of five, Shui treatments are dedicated to body conditioning therapy. Earth is a nourishing and well-balanced therapy. Concocted from traditional Chinese herbs, “Oriental Herbal Whitener” is applied all over the body to purify and brighten dull skin. A moisturising facial treatment “Ginseng Nourisher” is applied—enriched with ginseng and pure pearls to hydrate and reduce the appearance of fine lines. Banyan Essentials (120 minutes)
Comprising a series of basic elements, this is an essential top to toe body care. Two therapists simultaneously administer a harmonised treatment on the face, hands, and feet. The finishing touch is your choice of a synchronised back or foot massage. Banyan Back Reviver (90 minutes)
Excellent for relieving tension in the back muscles, this invigorating treatment begins with a mile scrub followed by a deep massage using a menthol-based lotion to stimulate tired and sore muscles. Warm paraffin, enriched with vitamin E, is generously layered onto the entire back after the massage for tension relief and optimal moisture absorption.

The recreational facilities include indoor swimming pools, with a 25 meter (80 foot) adult pool and two smaller pools for children; a health club equipped with cardio and strength training equipment, sauna, steam rooms, Jacuzzis, and personal trainers. Aerobics, Tai Chi, and yoga classes are also offered in the health club. Jogging/walking routes of five or eight km (three or five miles), designed and certified by Runner’s World, are available from the hotel.
