Hotel Information: This tower of steel and glass rises amid century-old gardens. As guests step into the lobby, they inevitably look up the 16 floors of the elliptical atrium. Two open glass lifts operate at one end. Paintings by local artists hang in the area around the Aris bar and are for sale. Increasingly families are being lured to this otherwise predominantly business-oriented hotel for weekend stays.
Amenity highlights: The 'Royal Fitness & Spa' wellness and health center offers a gym, with exercise bicycles, other machines, and weights. In the same complex are two heated indoor pools and a 'wet zone' made up of jetted tubs, saunas, steam baths, aroma cabins, and hydro-massage showers. Staff are on hand to help with training programs and massages. Outside is a further heated pool, open year round (unlike the unheated outdoor pools elsewhere in the hotel grounds).
Insider tip: This modern tower hotel was raised on the site of what was once a sprawling farm. All that remains of it are the hotel gardens, which are a century old - dating to a time when Barcelona was a much smaller and distant city. The carefully manicured gardens are an oasis of peace in a hectic city and open exclusively to hotel guests.
Rooms
The Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I, Barcelona, has 433 guestrooms over 16 floors. Through picture windows most rooms enjoy bird's eye views over the hotel gardens, nearby polo fields, Camp Nou stadium, and beyond to the city and, in some cases, the Mediterranean. A brief corridor leads past the bathroom into the main room. Decorated with deep blue, white-spotted carpet, contemporary timber furniture and modern art prints on the wall. Two interlocking desks with modem connection (surcharge) are complemented by a green lounge with a small table and bowl of complimentary fruit. In the wall is a digital temperature gauge. The marble bathrooms have separate tub and shower, anti-fog mirrors, own phone, heated towel rails, bathrobe and slippers.
Located on the 12th floor, the Executive Floor includes 32 double deluxe rooms and one Junior Suite, as well as the Executive Lounge, where the personal attention and services offered. These include separate check-in/check-out, secretarial service, international press, free Internet connection and four gastronomic presentations a day.

Aris Scotch Bar - The hotel's nightlife takes place in this intimate bar with its Scottish styling. Low lighting, decor with red tinges and a hint of cocktail bars of old, with prints and other items on the walls. Cocktails and mixed drinks are the specialty of the house.
Fresh Bar - This bar offers a wide selection of beers and provides snacks and evening meals.
