The Sukhothai Bangkok

Hotel Information: The Sukhothai stands at the end of a tree-lined boulevard in Bangkok’s central embassy district. Some 80 meters (80 yards) back from the road, the Sukhothai sits quietly surrounded by water features and jacarandas (flowering shrubs/trees). Inside its column-lined lobby, business guests can enjoy refreshments. Glimpses outdoors of a rippling pond or green garden fleetingly appear between the lobby’s series of columns and mirrors, which are decorated with granite, teak, and copper décor, and artifacts from the Sukhothai historical period.

Amenity highlights: The Sukhothai offers an outdoor 25-meter infinity pool surrounded by deck chairs and a poolside bar. Squash and floodlit tennis courts, and a fitness center with spa tub, sauna, and whirlpool are nearby. The fitness center also offers daily aerobics, Pilates, and yoga sessions. Six restaurants and bars can be found around the hotel’s ground floor, and most offer garden and pond views.

Insider tip: Lumpini Park is around 1 km (less than a mile) east up South Sathorn Road and is one of Bangkok’s largest park areas. It features a boating lake and many walking paths. At the northern end of the park is Soi Sarasin (Soi is Thai for lane), which offers wine bars, bistros, and live music, all with the park as a backdrop.

The Sukhothai offers two hotel shuttles that leave once daily in the morning and travel around Bangkok’s city and shopping districts. Mercedes limousines are also available.
