Buffalo Mountain Lodge

Hotel Information: The architecture and grounds of this Canadian Rockies lodge reflect the surrounding environment, highlighting stone and wood materials. Each guestroom has a fieldstone fireplace that is restocked with firewood daily. Guests appreciate the lodge’s proximity to downtown Banff and the many recreational options available in Banff National Park.

Amenity highlights: A fine-dining restaurant specializing in fresh, wild, local ingredients, and a casual café with wood-oven pizzas are both on site, as is a lobby lounge with a fireplace, single-malt Scotch, and an extensive wine cellar. The 20-person outdoor spa tub offers welcome relaxation after a day of skiing.

Insider tip: Take a 1 km (0.5 mi) hike to The Hoodoos—limestone spires that rise majestically up from the mountainside like eroded cathedrals. From the Hoodoo Lookout, you can see spectacular views of Tunnel Mountain, the Bow River, and Mount Rundle.
