Hotel Information: Owned by the Seldovia Native Association, Dimond Center Hotel takes its style cues from the tribal homelands along Kachemak Bay on the Kenai Peninsula. The south Anchorage hotel is adjacent to busy Dimond Center Mall and one block from Old Seward Highway. A courtyard wildflower garden includes woolly mammoth sculptures, a barbecue grill, and a fish-and-game freezer for guest use.
Amenity highlights: The hotel provides complimentary passes to the adjacent Dimond Athletic Club, including two indoor pools, aerobics and martial-arts classes, and saunas. Wireless Internet access throughout the hotel is complimentary. Locally made jams, jellies, and syrups are available in the gift shop and are a daily part of the complimentary Continental breakfast, which includes make-your-own Belgian waffles.
Insider tip: A block away, Old Seward Highway leads to the Alaskan wilderness. The highway offers a picturesque one-hour drive to the Kenai Peninsula, home to active volcanoes, beautiful scenery, and an assortment of wildlife such as caribou, moose, and bear. Along the way, there are opportunities for hiking and whale watching.
Rooms
The three-story Dimond Center Hotel has 109 guestrooms, all with mattresses custom-designed by Serta, plush pillows, Egyptian-cotton duvets filled with European goose down, and custom wood headboards.
The spacious rooms have 10-foot ceilings, custom furnishings of northern hardwoods, and octopus-ink paintings by local Seldovia artist Diane Widom. In bathrooms, 72-inch sunken bathtubs are set in enclosures with windows that open into the bedroom, allowing guests to watch TV while in the tub. Bathrooms also feature granite vanities with Venetian-style mirrors, Aveda bath products, and terry bathrobes.
Modern amenities include cable TV and complimentary high-speed wired and wireless Internet access (guests must provide their own network cards). Other comforts include microwaves, compact refrigerators, and coffeemakers with premium coffee.

Custom maple and walnut furnishings and local artwork are located throughout the hotel. Two woolly mammoth sculptures keep watch over the outside courtyard set amid driftwood, seashells, and wildflowers. The courtyard also houses barbecue grills and fish-and-game freezers for guest use.
