Learn to kayak in Denali National Park!
No experience is needed—just a desire to learn the essentials of whitewater kayaking. A professional instructor will take you through the basics, beginning with easy, flat water and then progressing to class I and easy class II rapids as you traverse the boundary of the park. The inflatable kayaks used are lightweight, simple to maneuver, and stable, making them the ideal choice for first-time kayakers. Flipping is always a possibility, though, so be prepared to swim—but don't worry, your instructor is standing by, ready to lend a hand!

Duration:
3 1/2–4 hours, depending on water level and group size

Daily, May 20 through Sept. 15
Departure time and location:
8 AM and 1:30 PM, from Denali Outdoor Center office, located on the Parks Highway at mile marker 238.5; transfers are available from select local hotels
Return time and location:
Noon and 5:30 PM, to the Denali Outdoor Center office; transfers are available to select local hotels
Travel time:
- Anchorage to Denali National Park: Approx. 4 hours
- Fairbanks to Denali National Park: Approx. 2 hours
Note:
Advance reservations are required. You must call Denali Outdoor Center prior to your arrival. You will not be guaranteed a place on this tour if you don’t call ahead. Participants must be at least 14 years old. You will need to dress in long-sleeved layers and a warm pair of socks under the suit; on colder days, an extra layer is recommended.

After you book your activity, follow these 3 easy steps:
1. Print your voucher; locate the voucher in your travel confirmation e-mail or in the My Trips/My Itineraries link on the site.
2. Follow the redemption instructions on your voucher; it is critical to do this before you depart.
3. Take all vouchers with you; you must redeem one voucher per person.
Exchange your voucher for activity:
Advance reservations are required.You must call Denali Outdoor Center at least 72 hours in advance of your arrival. You will not be guaranteed a place on this tour if you don’t call ahead. The reservation phone number will be listed on your printed voucher(s). Pick-up is available from select hotels. You may schedule your pick-up when you make your reservation; please have your hotel information available when calling. You may also choose to meet the tour at the Denali Outdoor Center office; the address will be listed on your printed voucher(s). Present your voucher(s) and photo identification upon pick-up at your hotel or upon arrival at the Denali Outdoor Center office.
